Lamb waves in discrete homogeneous and heterogeneous systems: Dispersion properties, asymptotics and non-symmetric wave propagation

In this paper, we study Lamb waves propagating in a discrete strip, whose microstructure is represented by either monatomic or diatomic triangular lattice. considering the in-plane vector problem, derive an analytical solution for dispersion relation of waves. Additionally, investigate main features eigenmodes system, which describe how lattice strip vibrates at different frequencies. Further, discuss properties depend on number lattice’s rows and chosen boundary conditions. For heterogeneous systems, focus attention internal stop-band flat bands appearing diagram. Different asymptotic models are employed to approximate low-frequency behaviour starting from classical Euler–Bernoulli beam. The effective with dense also investigated, present comparative numerical analysis analogous continuum wave problem posed. theory developed exploited here design structured medium capable manipulating wavemodes, and, through conversion selection, generating uni-directional phenomena. We envisage that work can fill gap research field related dispersive microstructured media, dynamic performance influenced presence multiple external boundaries.
